On the 9th August 1980 Abba hit the number 1 spot in the UK singles chart with "The Winner Takes It All". The top 5 in the chart that week was as follows;
- Abba "The Winner Takes It All"
- Diana Ross "Upside Down"
- Odyssey "Use It Up And Wear It Out"
- Leo Sayer "More Than I Can Say"
- Sheena Easton "9 To 5"
"The Winner Takes It All" was the 18th biggest selling single in the UK that year ("Super Trouper" was the 4th) and the single also reached number 1 in Belgium, Holland, South Africa and Ireland.
